In terms of financial services, this can include advice on executive benefits, employee benefits, business protection and shareholder protection.

Other than the above, it can also include help with identifying and accessing new customers / markets, the research and development of products and services, and reviewing existing cashflow and expenditure.

Research and development of social financial solutions

This work has a particular focus on Community Development Finance Institutions (CDFIs) and other socially responsible organisations. It can include the research and development of products that meet the needs of customers, where those need are not presently being met in the retail market place.

It can also include the development of mechanisms by which investment can be raised to support social projects.

Consumer intelligence

This service is aimed at groups of consumers, be they investment clubs, societies, associations etc. It is the provision of knowledge and intelligence in relation to financial services products and transactions and aims to ensure the consumer groups involved are able to buy whichever product(s) or service(s) they want, on the terms they want, for the price they want.

Lobbying the FSA and related bodies

This service is aimed at any representative body that wishes to raise awareness with the Financial Services Authority (FSA) and related bodies of any particular issue(s). One of Robin's successes here is getting ethical / socially responsible investment included in new financial advice exams.

The caveat on this service is that Robin will only undertake work that he believes in and empathises with. As a guide, this will typically include ethical / socially responsible investment issues; issues related to financial inclusion / exclusion and financial capability; issues related to business ethics - discouraging bad practice / encouraging good practice etc).
